About us

Mefta Green Transfo Energy Poland, known as the Mikolow Transformer Factory,
is a world-renowned Polish manufacturer of medium voltage distribution transformers

Our factory is located in Silesia, in Mikołów, and has been operating continuously at this location since 1945, delivering high-quality oil-filled and dry resin transformers for power networks, industry and individual customers. Our transformers have been entirely manufactured in Poland for years and successfully operate worldwide under the brands of major power industry giants such as AEG, Alstom, Areva, and Schneider Electric, whose corporations the Mikolow Transformers Factory was part of for many years. Under the Schneider Electric brand, the Mikolow Transformer Factory operated for the last 12 years before becoming MEFTA Green Transfo Energy Poland in 2023, when it joined the Green Transfo group, part of the French Cahors corporation.

Modern Infrastructure

We have a modern infrastructure located in 15,000 m² of production and storage halls. Our specialization includes transformers up to 7 MVA and 36 kV (oil transformers) and up to 6 MVA and 36 kV (dry resin transformers).

All the main components of our transformers, such as the transformer core, HV and LV coils, and the transformer tank, are produced in our factory in Poland, in Mikołów. This gives us full control over the materials and methods used in building the transformers we offer. We do not use ready-made products or semi-finished goods from outside Europe.

In January 2023, after Green Transfo SAS acquired the Mikolow Transformer Factory from Schneider Electric, we became part of the international Cahors capital group — a corporation operating in the power engineering sector. The factories belonging to the Cahors capital group are located in different countries and specialize in selected product groups, which allows for maximizing the efficiency of the entire supply chain. Thanks to this, the Cahors Group, including the Green Transfo Group, can deliver as many as 32,000 transformers annually to global markets, including oil and dry distribution transformers, as well as transformers with power ratings up to 120 MVA and nominal voltages up to 170 kV.

History of our factory

Our roots date back to 1945, when the state-owned enterprise Mikolow Transformer Factory Mefta was established to produce transformers for the needs of a developing country. Since then, we have continuously grown as a center of competence and technology in the field of transformers. Our over 80 years of experience is the foundation on which we build the future of sustainable energysector.

Mefta Green Transfo history

1945

The history of the Transformer Plant in Mikołów dates back to 1945, when the company Elektrobau was nationalized (February 28, 1945).

1992

After the company was transformed into a state-owned enterprise, dynamic development followed — increased production, expanded product range, and growth in the number of employees.

1992

Nearly 50 years later, after the political transformation, the privatization - in 1992 - of the Mikolow Transformer Factory "Mefta" was carried out, and the plant was incorporated into the structure of the international AEG group (17 December 1992).

1995

In 1995, production in the new hall was launched, and further transformations of the company continued: the merger of AEG and GEC Alsthom – the name was changed to GEC Alsthom (1997), and later to Alstom (1998).

2001

In December 2001, the consolidation of Alstom Group companies in Poland took place.

2004

In 2004, following the acquisition of the Transmission and Distribution sector from ALSTOM by the AREVA group, the company changed its name to AREVA T&D.

2010

In June 2010, the Schneider Electric group acquired the distribution division from the French group AREVA T&D, which resulted in the company being renamed Schneider Electric Energy Poland sp. z o.o. (in 2017, the name was changed to Schneider Electric Transformers Poland sp. z o.o.).

2023

In 2023 (January 5, 2023), the factory changed ownership once again, becoming part of the Cahors capital group within the Green Transfo subgroup, and adopting the name Mefta Green Transfo Energy Poland.
